Kistler is a long-standing partner of both university institutes and the R&D deparments of car manufacturers. Vehicle dynamics and safety are increasingly important fields of research and development, and that's where measuring wheels play their important part.
Based on its time-tested passenger car measuring wheel concept, and using the same electronics, Kistler developed a family of measuring wheels for heavy trucks and machinery like tractors, harvesters and power shovels.
A spectacular Kistler invention for weighing axle loads of moving vehicles: sensors are built into the road surface and transmit truck overload real-time to traffic police stations. The police can react immediately and specifically. Result: a substantial reduction of road damages.
